Best Nutes for M.G Soil?

    Hello fellow growers, quick question...
I'm advising a friend with his first grow, plants are in pure Miracle Grow Soil. Regarding nutes to use with that soil, since the soil contains those slow release M.G balls, should you go purely chemical nutes? I was wanting to go with Bio-Bizz stuff, but will the miracle grow soil cause issues with adding organic nutes?

    Thanks for your help!!!

    Good morning,

I'd tell your friend to purchase a better soil that doesn't contain any type of builtin nutes.. MG isn't the greatest soil based product on the planet for growing MJ. Don't get me wrong, it can be done successfully but, usually left to a more experienced grower with a few grows under his/her belt.

I would go with any soil thats nute free, because i'd rather be the one controlling what my plants get at the different stages of growth rather then leave it to a soil company that thinks they know what my plants might need. This so called soil company does not know i'm growing MJ and the basic nutes they add aren't necessarily designed for MJ.

And since most MJ strains could be heavy feeders, I doubt there'd be enough MG balls of whatever they add to them to support an MJ plant long enough to be of any help.

My suggestion to my friend would be invest in a better soil IE: Promix (either version) or Sunshine mix, if you want soilless mixes or Fox Farms line of soil based products IE: FF Happy Frog, FF Ocean Forest (which contains many natural organics from Pacific Northwest waters) or at worse case scenario, a big bag of Black Gold either there original or the Organic version i'd think would be better then MG.

As I said, MG can be used to grow pot, but most begining cultivators usually run into issues while using it. While most experienced cultivators know how to correct issues that arise.

Good luck and have a Great day

Many thanks for you input on the soil... I know MG isn't a great choose, and like you I like to be in control of what my plants are getting. But unfortunately the friend I'm advising put them in MG soil before asking for my help with his grow. To late to change soils, there in 5 gal. buckets and roots are establishing well. He has a great light and exhaust setup..
But back to my question, I'm basically wondering if the chemical MG nutes in the soil will cause issues with organic nutes? Such as the bacterial breaking down as it should, so on and so forth?
Also any input on what brands/sets of nutrients and supplements for pure MG soil also would be great?

    Thank you for your input!!!

    Good morning,

I have no idea what would or wouldn't work with MG' builtin nutes to give a good definitive answer.

I would however ask, at what stage (early veg or late in veg) was your friends plant (how old is it) in that 5 gal bucket and does he think he'll be flowering to finish in that one bucket ? ?

Have a Great day and sorry I couldn't be of more help

Thank you for your input, much appreciated. . Plants are about mid veg cycle, I think he is planning to finish in 5 gallon buckets, I thought that would be plenty for indoor grow??? I'm more outdoor grower myself...
Maybe I should just advice him to keep it simple! Top dress with worm castings, and start with mild doses of Technoflora, Grow, Bloom, Micro. Maybe some Cal-Mag and a flowering supplement..
