Building a misting aerocloner/veg machine

Thanks Sam. Appreciate the compliment. :) Works better than I imagined it would. Every now and then, I manage to come with an idea that actually works. :D

I had 48 clones in there the first time around. Got a little crowded by the end of week 3, but they all did well. Now I'm checkerboarding the sites, as I don't need as many, but still want to give them the space to veg. That was my biggest problem with the ebay cloner - crowding. Cuttings smothering each other's veg growth, and even trying to smother each other's roots.

The deeper the better. The alternative, which I am considering, is to run the misting container as a dry container, draining into a remote res. That will keep the roots out of the solution. They stop fishboning when they hit water. They always hit water as it is now.

    1/4"...Well my pump is 1/8" in/out. I guess I'll need some 1/8th to 1/4 connectors.

AND yes the translucent hose might not be a good idea

This and many more like it were grown in a 3.5" net pot.

You do need to be sure to make the hole small enough so the net pot will not push through the hole.

I'm not criticizing, I'm just saying it can be done quite effectively.

I can't see any way to place a net pot with a lot of roots into a bigger pot, pack grow rocks around it, and not damage the roots.

    wow is that photoshopped:D..

.not a bad size plant. Mine are bit bigger though..not much.. but bigger

I have in the past 'cut' away the small net pots..however I've actually found that the mini net protects some of the roots. Besides I never 'pack' the rocks in transplanting. It's more like I gently fill the net pots

Either way it really hasn't been an issue. I wish I didn't have to do it but snce I'm going with this new machine and the minis it will have to be the case. If I can near as many roots as C' it should be a breeze

This looks to me like a DIY bubbler, super charged with a aquatec pump and hp mist heads. I like it. I use a smalI DIY bubbler, then transfer to the main HPA pod. I use these from Reptile Basics. Their 4 head should work nicely for the cloner (too many heads for the pod though will over wet the roots. The arms and heads swivel for ease of positioning.

Simply drill a 3/4" hole using a flat bit (don't know the exact name) in the side above your water line, insert the head from the inside, tighten the locking ring on the outside, add an elbow if you need it, push on the 1/4 tubing, connect to your pump and you're good to go. hth

Pre-assembled misting heads for vivarium, plant and aeroponics use

In that case you could use smaller net pot,s but you would need to remove them to put into a much larger flower pods.
