I was just thinking of this for my kids on Facebook and it applies here as well. Most of the smart phones with camera's will actually record your GPS coordinates in the header info. Be very careful using cell phones and if you must, make sure that the location service is off.

Of course you can always link to some other site that stores the photos that way the metadata is not seen.

    Just an FYI

There are also programs you can get that allow you to edit the Exif info stored along with your pictures.

I haven't tried this one, but something like this is good to have handy...

I've wondered about this a few times myself. If you turn your location service or gps off, is the photo not traceable to a location? I was curious if the coordinates could still be recovered by someone who is good with computers (like the cops).

Spacely- i think the answer to your question is yes. Assuming the button that turns location "on" and "off" isnt just a sham i suppose.. heck when my phones location is on and im not driving, it usually says "accurate to 1600m". Heh.

Yes. This is VERY true. Do not take camera pics with gps enabled phones. And do not trust the OFF option as we all know the dummy close button on the elevator is a sham as well :) This data is naughty!

Having pictures of plants on your phone is just a brainless move, imho. Regardless of any gps tracking.

I agree spacely. Whenever i take pics on my digital camera..i immediately delete them after i have them uploaded wherever i want them.

You never know when your phone or camera might be confiscated and used in a police investigation...

i email the pics from my phone to my email..and then upload them from email

im not worried about pics being liked to me as long as they dont disclose location the pic was taken
