You're right, it's too big for a duct.

Tommy_Chong The real Tommy is a nice guy

even a larger unit like Quillo's i think could be used fine..

mount it in the attic in a tin box maybe made out of ductwork (just so it doesnt short out on anything)

run your exhaust, say a 6" duct into it..

and vent out the other end about the same size

i would think the ozone and smell would have enough time co-mingling in there it drop out of the air

    what ya think?

Thats kinda what my idea was, I will be implementing this design on the back of a stealth fridge. My plan is to mount this as soon as the 90 degree bend comes out the back of the fridge giving it as much co mingling time as possible. I will be probably adding a few bends and turns for light proofing that will probably aid with the co mingling as well. I am hoping for absolutely no smell once the air leaves the duct work. ( Super Stealthy ):D Thats the whole reason I went with a smaller unit that will even hold the transformer in the PVC tube. The only thing on the outside will be the cord. The 400 Watt HPS that I converted to switchable has a timer on it and also has a seperate plug on it to run a vent fan for a vented hood, since the transformer only draws about three watts, I will just probably put a couple of things on a power strip off of the power outlet from the ballast. I was thinking I could even probably run a Co2 sequencer off of it also so that Co2 is released when the light is on. Let me post a pic of the ballast real quick.

There you are, I think I paid something like 27 bucks for this one plus shipping. Just one of my many treasures that I bought from LEO :leo:

Hey man pretty nifty idea you got there. I wish I was more electrically savvy or Id try that.

    Quick question though:

How safe is that police auction website. Seems very strange that they would be selling those things on there, and then not following up on where it is being shipped. Couldnt they jus follow the address and bust you down if they really wanted to?

I have been buyin from them for like 5 years now, people are starting to learn about it and buy them from there and sell them on ebay. I actually learned about it from a grower in treatment when I was there for a DUI

    transformer wiring

Having worked on neon lighting repair, I/we always used what the distributors of neon supplies called GTO. We used it exclusively for wire off the output of the neon transformer. Most, if not all neon sign suppliers should carry it.

    GFCI circuit?

Can this be plugged into a GFCI protected outlet?

For improved safety, I would recomend mounting the transformer externally from the duct. And the wire terminations should be in a box. Good spot for a handy box. bout the only use for those tiny pita boxes really . And the wire Nomad mentioned is a good idea as well. Thanks for sharing this, I will likely attempt one of these in the near future.

Ozone is unhealthy if used continuously indoors. It can remove odors effectively, though... but if grow rooms air is vented to space where ppl. live it is not good idea to use ozonator.
Plants do not like ozone either, amount that different plants suffer from it varies. Anyhow, it does not do any good for them.
Well... except it is effective for sterilizing molds, which makes it good way to rescue easy molding strains like Lowryder if they have started to get moldy.. which is often case if grown outside and there happens to be too rainy whether for too long time.

Ppl. often confuse ozonizers and ionizers. They must be used different ways and for different purposes. Still, in EBAY there is much air cleaners which produce negative ions, ozone OR in most confusing situation; BOTH.
And they sell them without decent directions (at least not on auction page).

Ozone generators suites best to be used for one time treatments. Meaning that people and animals should be kept out of the room / house that is ozonized. Afterwards they can come back when space is ventilated. Ozone dissipates in couple hours.
Some say half hour is enough waiting while ventilating space, but when i just searched this detail so that i wouldn't lie about it -i found site that said it takes two hours to half of the ozone to break down in to one O² molecule and 1 oxygen atom.
    http://www.rhtubs.com/indoor-ozone-danger.htm

Negative ions (some call them anions) are very similar to ozone in atom level, but otherwise it is completely different animal. It is safe to use 24/7 and has actually health benefits for both animals and humans. Also plants like those.
More negative ions -the better it is.
Effects in salt lamps are based to negative ions as well, but they produce those very low levels compared to ionizators.

Ionizators can eliminate some impurities from the air, but with different mechanism than ozone. It works for different things and different ways. One i remember is that it makes dust particles more heavy, which causes them to fall down quicker, away from the breathing area. You can find more ways how this "anions" work with search engines.

So, i wouldn't recommend cleaning odors that cannabis plants produce with ozone, unless maybe in rare occasions like if landlord is coming to visit, or your boss / parents etc.
Instead i would use good old active carbon filter.

That's because negative ions do not take out odors too well.. . still i recommend everyone to have negative ionizer. They are great!
Just pick one that does not produce ozone as side product, at least not over 0.05 ppm. if you are gonna use it 24/7.

If you don't believe me, and are going to use ozonator anyways, please do yourself a favor and use one that produces under 0.05ppm instead of those powerful ozonators that are used to sanitize moldy houses, dead body odors etc. If it produces grams per hour it is WAY too much for daily use.

Here's huge amount of information about both negative ions and ozone:
