flushing question

First couple grows, tried to flush. Without a drain, it quickly became quite messy. Next grow said "f-it, no flush this time". Guess what? Noticed zero difference. In the many grows since, never flushed, and don't see any difference - other than they seem to dry and cure a bit quicker.

    YMMV

    Got link?

Do you have a link to the seaweed product you are using?

    Thanks

Could that be because the 'salts' that are present continue to soak up the remaining water via osmosis? I wonder...

it relly depends on how u r growing bro. are u using synthetic nutrients? organic nutrients? are they bottled or soil ammendments?

i stop the introduction of anything 2 weeks before harvest but i dont flush.. flushing in organic soil growing is bad, u are flushing all the life u created out.. leaving dead soil. in synthetic coco grows for example your soil is already dead, and u are force feeding the plant.. so u just water like normal for the last however long.. i have a friend that does coco that does a 4 day flush at the end every day.

i do primarily soil ammendments, so i dont flush at all, because im giving water only during flower, the soil already has what it needs.. but i also dose em with liquid karma, molasses, silica blast, and hygrozyme all during flower once a week, and i do that until 2 weeks before harvest. then i go back to water only.. buds taste fantastic, burn clean and thats all there is to it..

when i used bottled nutrients exclusively i would half dose 3 weeks before harvest, and then last 2 weeks go water only.. regular amounts, u r just giving water and letting the plants use up the accumulation that u have been adding repeatedly all the prior weeks..

Well, I also start my flush the last 2 weeks of flower. I have and will continue to use 1 tablespoon of Blackstrap Molasses per gallon of water, with each watering. I have noticed the buds love it, not only because the Blackstrapp strips away all extra salts and I have not had any harsh flavor or taste. It has also increased bud size by a small degree 20-30%. Makes them nice and plump.. So opinions being what they are, I am a firm believer of Blackstrapp/water flushing every other day or so for the last 2 weeks. Just so you know I use only Fox Farm products, Happy Frog soil, and Tiger Bloom, and Big Bloom nutes.

    Good morning,

I disagree, try using chemical fert's, aka Peter's product line comes to mind and see how your end product tastes w/o flushing. OMG talk about ways to destroy a good thing.

I do agree that you'll hear many different theorys from many different people on this subject, some do & some don't. I'm one of those who do flush but, have recently been wondering if it was possible to flush all those natural organics from FFOF completely to get the plant to eat its reserves held within the shade leaves.

If your the grower who monitors every thing that goes into the grow, uses only the best natural organics to feed and doesn't add chemicals of any kind then flushing for you might not be a needed thing while others who haven't caught up to the organic ways need to flush for taste.

Molasses - used as a revitalizing food for organics within the soil, if you were going to be reusing the medium or if used midway for say a Sativa run, since they can go quite a bit longer then an Indica strain. Its also been said to be a sweetner for the flowering parts of the plant that would be tasted later during smoke sessions.

There are so many ways to screw up a good grow before you even get to the dry/cure process.

    Have a Great day

Don, thanks for the input. Right now my grow 2 Orange Bud and 2 Pineapple Chunk are extremely healthy. The fan and other leaves have slowly started to go from green to a healthy yellow as if the sugars are being sucked from the leaves. I have heard that Molasses is good just for the sugar a plant needs as well as a sweeter taste after cure. I am by far no expert, as I read a lot and try different things. My last 4 grows have been flushed with Molasses with no ill effects, and believe me the last thing I want to do is harm this GREAT LOOKING CROP. This is by far my best grow out of around 7 grow totals. The only 2 things I changed on this grow was buying a new 7' ft tall tent and a 530cfm HD exhaust fan. Seems the plants loved having the extra room to stretch. So I will now stop the Blackstrapp and use just plain water. Again thanks for input.
