My first time using FFOF. I just put the seeds in the soil and when they poked their head up I hit them with 1000 watts. They're doing fine at the almost 4 week mark. They are very green so I think I'll wait at least another week to fert them.

I'm worried about the PH issues I'm hearing about. That was one reason I went to FFOF.

Just an update at week 9, 3 weeks into flowering. I'm just starting to feed them macros and I don't think they need it. They are massive and a dark rich green. I definitely don't think they need much N if any.

Since week 4 I've been giving them mild doses of earth juice catalyst. Just enough to bring the water down to 6.5 pH which is about 5ml/gal.

I think a lot of it has to do with how big your pots are. Mine are 5 gallon buckets so I don't even see the roots getting that deep until about now. So how could they possibly use the nutes in the soil if the roots aren't all the way down at the bottom.

Anyway, I'm just going to give them some mild doses of fish emulsion, some EJ bloom, and catalyst. It looks like they could go all the way without anything at this point though.

    Good morning,

I as well haven't seen you on in awhile redman, always nice seein you..

I've paid $16.95 per 1.5 cu.ft. bag of FFOF at my local nursery.

I believe the problems with critters found in the bags of soil might relate to how and where your local nursery / hydro store stores their soils..

Soil that has been stored outside is more prone to becoming infected with unwanted critters then soil stored say indoors. Also, I believe soil kept on the ground is more likely to become infiltrated by unwanted pests before you ever pickup and bring the bags home.

I've talked with the owner of the local nursery here in town and asked if it was at all possible for them to store there soil indoors up high on shelfs because of this very reason.

In my case he understood the reasoning and seemed to be eager to help, due to whenever I go into purchase a bag its always up on a shelf. This also seems to make it much easier for me to retrieve said bag since not having to bend my 6' 5" tall body over to pick any up.

I have never seen any unwanted pests in any bags of fresh FFOF i've purchased in the years i've been using the product and will never go back to using the Black Gold Organic I once used so often.

I also think the burning issues from the product lineup has been more from the "Tiger Bloom" @ 2 teaspoons (older schedule) rather then the soil and have since modified the measuring of the liquid nutes as well as the enhancers used in conjunction with their soil products.

I've been an avid user of both the FF Light Warrior soil, for all my seedlings and rooted (in RW) clones for the "this soil isn't as nutrient rich as the OF" and as well as the FF Ocean Forest for the veggers, flower's and long term Mothers without a single issue soil wise.

Talk to your local store owners to see where and how they store there soil - beware of any soil based products being stored outdoors as these might (probably) will contain unwanted critters as well as being completely saturated from any rain (rain flushes away nutrients in soil) they might be subjected too.

And inquire if they might go that extra little mile insuring your getting the best from the products your spending your hard earned $$ on in there establishment. I'm all for supporting my local store owners if there willing to watch out and take care of me.

    Have a Great day
