Well now that i have my new tent and my 150 watt hps...i have six 26 watt cfl bulbs...for a total of 156 watts..and im thinking about trying to grow a vegetable or fruit plant. If any of you have any experience with this kind of gardening...whats a good and easy plant to grow under 156 watts?

I think tomatoes only need 20-40W per plant

    Mr B the village idiot

I do this in my "down time" , cherry tomatos usually and they are a small bushy plant , tom thumb is the strain. Also romaine lettuce loves it indoors with the right lights , most chilli plants do well indoors, not as well as outdoors but nothing like a fresh salad with yer taco in the depth of winter.
I can't think of many (any) fruits that might do well indoors and the pest threat that comes with fruit would be enough to deter me trying.

Cherries sound awesome actually...its not that im growing food to survive...but with these extra lights i just wanna put them to use. Im starting to fall in love with plants in general. Thanks mr b!

I've grown lot's of stuff inside, much the same way you started...extra lights. I grew strawberries, tomatos, potatos, chives, lettuce, peppers, aloe, catgrass, catnip, onions, various flowers, garlic, and some more I can't remember. Out of all the plants I've tried growing some definitely worked better than others, tomatos, chives, garlic, catnip, catgrass, peppers, and onions all seemed to grow pretty easily. My strawberries berried but were overly crowded and thus underdeveloped, potatos same thing.

    Good Luck :D

Duner thats awesome...im thinking about trying strawberries too...but i know they probably get crowded.

I have to ask though...what do you use the catnip for? Do you have cats? Or is there another use for it...

I do have cats, but there are lots of uses for catnip. There are probably dozens of home remedy type uses, but the one that really sells me on the stuff is the repellent properties. Catnip repels mosquitoes and other pests better than Deet, it's been proven ;)

    Awesum Duner,

    What lights do you use?
I noticed the fluorescent tubes, do you use anything else?

    Peace,

The repellent is for you, not the plants ;)

In the first, yellowy picture there is a HPS hung overhead. I've used other lighting as well but there's no real trick to it, most houseplants thrive given the conditions you supply for you MJ. My first attempts with houseplants were ill fated though, now I encourage reading the labels on your seeds
