going from veg to flower

i'm new to growing so i appologize for this.

as i move a plant from the veg stage to flower stage. what should i do? step by step would be nice. from what i've read, it is a little more complicated than moving a plant into another room and going from 18/6 to 12/12.

i currently have a t8 6500k light for vegging and a t5 5500k light for flowering. i can change bulbs for the flowering light to have 6500k if need be.

my plant is in a 5 gallon dwc.

Personally I just change the times .. right to 12/12. But I wait a week to change the bulb color. you want more red for flowering so 2700 would be the best, in your case stick with the 5500k , use both together if you want, more light the better with flo's

tellno1, i have two lights. the t8 cf. and another t5 that has 4 bulbs that can be changed independently. are you saying that two 6500k and two 5500k bulbs would work better than just the 6500k lights to flower?

also, do i need to do anything beyond changing the time the lights are on to flower? flush (which i dont understand completely), no nutes, more nutes,...

The mix would be better in your case, I would even add the t8 along with the t5's if possible. I don't flush between veg and flower .. some do,I guess it's what you believe is best. As for nutes, I always use my veg nutes for the first week of flower then gradually change to flower nutes over the next couple of weeks.

1. change bulbs from mh to hps. flowering works better with the redder spectrum

2. change lighting on/off to 12/12

3. adjust your fertilizer. flowering typically prefers a higer k and lower n

18/6 is good once there is at least two sets of leaves. When the sixth set is shown, switch to 14/10. Now, after two weeks, you'll notice alternating nodes. This is when intersections of the "Y" stagger become alternate; only single {one-way} intersections.

Now, 12/12 is necessary because without sufficient darkness....sexing would never occur.

What really chokes my goat is when growers do the 24/0 until 12/12 and then wonder why the plant stretches?

Good gracious! If you had a light shined in your face for 24 hours a day for up to 8 weeks and then, all of a sudden, were introduced darkness....then you'd stretch too...from shock! I mean, heck, I'd feel like a Nazi war criminal spewing statements such as:

"We 'ave vays of making you talk!!!" or :

Du Ras so Gut

cant say ive ever heard of the intermediate 14/10 stage. ive always gone straight from 24/0 to 12/12 but with 36 hours darkness in between. interesting theory though.

Why would you introduce 36 hours of darkness to a plant undergoing the drastic change from 24/0 to 12/12???

to tell your plants its time to start flowering

I doubt very, and I highlight verily, that the plant needs any instruction whatsoever as to whether or not its able to sex.
