    The Gardens Report ;)

i don't see a relevant place to put it yet.

yeah I do...maybe....under planting indoors as long as it wasn't an outdoor product :confuse:

 ok, maybe The Gardens Report(s)?? is the main group under that you'd have subs for reports on strains, banks, equipment...ect. ???

I feel your pain, burndt, having wasted money on a Growbright fan/filter combo (didn't filter jack), Growbright timers (I have three dead ones in a pile, they won't switch off), and Growbright temp/humidity monitors (temps ok, humidity 7% to 12% low). Their air-cooled Easy Cool reflectors? The socket assembly and attachment brackets blocked about 60% of the duct opening. Those are now in a pile too. Done with HTG. both for the poor quality of their house brand products and the lack of service I experienced. Perhaps I can spare others the pain and waste of cash.

I've also had some excellent performing gear and would like to share my experiences with that as well.

How about a main category just called Garden Reviews or something similar? In there would be subcategories for vendor ratings (online and store), lighting (HPS, MH, T-5, CFL, LED, reflectors, ballasts, light movers, systems), ventilation, odor control, grow systems, grow system components, nutrients and supplements (organic, hydroponic, misc), testing and monitoring equipment, growroom aids, grow enclosures (tents, cabs, and misc). and CO2 injection.

    Did I miss anything? :)

I was thinking of calling it "Tools of the Trade" with the description of "This area is a place for the community to rate and review the everyday products used in the various types of grows feature on this site. Also, members can recommend or deter people away from certain merchants that have had less than acceptable service, or exceptional service."

I was thinking it would be a seperate section under the heading "The Garden"

JBB, I like your style. A lot of posts you make are things I would think about/ask. I'm always saying wow we are just like each other.

One thing that would make me hesitate to have a sub forum like this is something like the advanced nutrients bullshit happening.

LEO could look at the thread, prove that XXX brand is used by XXX% of people growing pot, and then we have another thing being watched/banned/whatever.

That's a semi paranoid reason, I know, just something to think about.

I don't grow but test a LOT of crap, so after you let me know what you think about what I said above, I'll get posting!

Assuming that the site is interested in generating traffic, (and what site isn't?), "Product Reviews" is a strong keyword that receives about 246,000 searches/mo. "Gardening Products" has 74,000 searches/mo while "Garden Product Reviews" gets about 200- fewer searches but a more selective audience.

Another thought - a review template similar to "Smoking Reports" would be tight.

PS I'm a relatively new member, don't know the site as well as I should and don't mean to be presumptuous by making site suggestions. :Peace: It's already a great site, IMHO, which needless to say, is why I come here.

Here is what I would do....

Under the main forum titled "Gardening", we could have a sub-forum titled "Product & Vendor Review" with a description that states, "(Discussions featuring real-world reviews and experiences of products, vendors and services used by forum members.)"
Once a member or guest has clicked this topic, they will be taken to a list of common categories such as: Lighting, Hydroponics, Soils/Mixtures/Outdoor Equipment, Nutrients, Indoor Gardening Accessories (such as timers, fans, co2 systems, etc...or they could all be categories), etc...
I also had another thought...instead of the above plan, another option would be to put a sticky heading on the top of each forum (where it would be relevant) that was just called "Product & Vendor Reviews" and let the topics be created based on that area's focus? Like in the section titled "Indoor Gardening", the way the two sub-topics are at the very top titled "Lighting" and "Construction". Just throwing it out there...thanks.
