Vegetables, you seem smart, and somewhat informed, but there is something that you seem to be lacking here, at least to some extent. That is, the past. The fact is, is so many times in the past, people have said something couldn't be done, but it is usually around that time that someone is doing it and proving them wrong. Like henry ford said,"whether you say you can or you cant, either way you are right." Any thing we put our minds to, can be done. Except for some clearly impossible things like making a million dollars pop out of nothing with just our minds, most things can be done. I came upon this thread because i was wondering if anyone knew anything about it, so now It makes me want to figure it out. The facts do speak, but they dont speak just for themselves, they also speak of the challenges involved in the process of the task. I, myself, believe it is completely possible to grow any plant under water with the right techniques. Also, it is not like throwing a cat in water and expecting it to grow gills, its like throwing a cat in the water with an oxygen tank, and watching it continue to use what it has. As for under water without any support at all, it might take a few million tries, but if you were answering to just water alone with no support, not being able to grow, thats something im sure we all know anyway,(that is throwing a cat under water). With the right technique, it can be done. For the rest of u who believe in possibilities, u are the people who change the world. The world didn't get changed by people who didnt try cause they thought it couldn't be done.

I dont know much about stomata, but im assuming with your response, you must know to some extent something about them? I know stomata help regulate the water flow via the mesophyll, and they also control the CO2. But there is no mechanism for the stomata to absorbe water. They only close to keep it in. i dont see why it wouldnt be possible for the plant to continue regulating itself, as long as it has access to all it needs. Just like roots wont root rot with a source of oxygen present, atleast not in my experience, the whole plant may do the same thing.

Most likely, understanding the whole process of stomata function and durability will make even the most dedicated plant enthusiast somewhat insane!

The stomata opens during the presence of light whilst receiving carbon dioxide to complete the photosynthesis process though a negative response via water vapor that is lost by way of transpiration occurs. :dazed:

I should think perhaps this is a good reason to load a bowl and contemplate how sweet it is . . .

    Happy growing.

    Good morning and Happy 420,

What an informational thread from days gone by ..

A grower smoking a bowl of his/her own grown, while staring intently into there aquarium.
A thought they'd ponder, "what if", a plant that can grow in soil could also be grown in water, looking back at the glass of his/her calming aquarium, pondering some more after the third exhale - "what if", the plant could grow underwater? Looking back at the calming aquarium. hmm ... as he/she gazes, those plants in water, thriving nicely under the light of a T5 hood the question arises - could my pot plants live under water?

Much has been inhaled, breaths held too long - dazed and confused, thought a pot plant could live under the pressures of under water life with the fishies swimmin' in and about.

A very informational thread that leaves you wondering that great question "What if" it could be done.

    Have a Great day & Happy 420

When i was younger than i am now.....there was this TV show called "seahunt" starring Loyd Bridges as a professional diver and all around do-gooder(Mike Nelson),in an episode of the show,he helped the feds bust and rip an undersea garden of cannabis growing along in the California coast, the concept was a little ahead of its time, considering that the show was produced in late 50's.....
