My closet is a very odd shape, and slightly smaller than any trays I could find. So I used individual pots. I would just use small buckets if I did it again. Siliconing holes is a PITA. The pot on the far right regulates the water level. It has a hose from the pump, then you can see another hose which then branches off into all the pots. The hoses that are curving are the overflow, the water in all the pots wont go any higher than that level. The only reason I used three 1/2" lines is because I had the fittings and hose laying around. Ideally you would use a single 3/4" drain.

Did you see the pictures? The closet is stupidly small, and sloped downward! I pulled the clothes rods and still only have 3 feet of work space height wise. 4ft x 2.5ft x 3ft height are the dimensions. I may be mixing them up, but I know what you mean by the tray and flooding it using timer on 15 minute intervals and not the multiple buckets linked to the main res.

    Thanks!

if you're torn between soil and hydro then the obvious choice is hempy buckets!
way cheaper, way easier, and way less stuff to worry about.

    its so simple its stupid.

instead of having to worry about what you will put in your organic mix, all you gotta do is pick up some perlite and verm!

instead of setting up tubes and timers and res tanks and chillers and pumps and who know what else, with hempy all you need to do is water them like soil. although, you should be watering at least every other day. it is a hydro system after all.

the results are fantastic and I wouldn't grow any other way, in a small set up that is :)

interesting yet difficult little closet you got there.

just throwin this out there, but if you were to switch to a different light source, say... LED for example, then you could increase your vertical grow space by placing your lights in the 5 foot high corner line and directing them down horizontally across your canopy. just somethin to think about

    Haha, yup.

Its the only safe and closest closet to me which no one opens.

I do wish I had gotten the dimensions on the 250w HPS before picking it up, but this guy was only askin $100 for both the light and fan, so I jumped on it.

Better View of the set up.

    ...and a pooch.

Edit: Clear pretzel bucket is 14 inches tall to show space height wise so it looks like I'll be going with soil. 2.5-3 gallon nursery pots are both under 11 inches or so, and I can somewhat keep plants small with a 2.5-3 gallon container huh? After 2 maybe 3 grows, an easy 3.5 gallon bubble bucket will probably be thrown in to compare growth and buds, and to see which I enjoy more soil or hydro.

I have been thinking about ventilation and where to exhaust heat from my light without cutting any holes in the wall or door. Would a piece of wood cut by like Home Depot to be close to exact fit/flush similar to the pictures here work for exhausting heat from the light? There would be like 4ft x 1 to 2 feet based on height of the wood/needed space. Dumb idea? Will I get mold? Dehumidifier in the little space or something?

Would the heat stay on that side of the wood? I'd have to like use duct tape or some type of sealant on some edges, but I thought it was a great idea at the time.
