    caps from leaf?

    If a person wanted to try this capsule technique, but didn't have a half ounce of bud laying around, how do you suppose it would work with fan leaves? Say you were starting out with two or three ounces of leaves, could you cook them for a bit longer and strain out the leaf matter to reduce the volume, or would that be wasteful? At that point, how many capsules would one have to eat? 6, 10? These aren't great leaves, they're barely worth smoking.

    Olive oil is 100% fat, but so are many other oils. I used it because it is one of the healthiest fats you can eat.

    You could make capsules with any THC-containing plant parts. The weaker the plant material the more capsules you would need to eat, but I can't estimate how many. Just experiment. It's fun. :D I don't think you should strain it though, because then the mixture would be too fluid and make sloppy capsules. I have made several batches now and getting the mixture the right consistency is important. Not enough oil and all the marijuana won't come into contact with it, resulting in incomplete THC absorption, too much and oil ends up on the outside of the capsules which you may taste slightly when swallowing them. :Puke: A possible problem with making capsules from leaves is stomach upset. The leaves have microscopic thorns which irritate some people's digestive systems. The bud leaves have them too though and it never bothers me, no matter how many I take, whether it's on an empty stomach (I recommend this for the best high btw :D ) or not. Eating marijuana rules. :D

    Well, I already had the leaves, encapsulator, capsules, olive oil (and no money to purchase needed supplies for a butane hash oil extraction), so I went ahead and gave it a shot. I kept the stuff between 325 F and 350 for about thirty minutes, and made about 70 caps from 20g of leaf. My first trial was encouraging, but not mind-blowing. I ate 6 capsules, and was mildly stoned for several hours. Next time I'll probably eat 8 or 9, and see how that goes. This seems like an ideal method for someone who is, say, going to a concert where it's not exactly an open drug scene, and doesn't want to smoke on the premises. ;)

    I think the microscopic thorns you mentioned are called cystolith hairs, and they are present on the surface of all mj leaf material. My understanding, though, is that while they are mildly irritating to the stomach, they are broken down easily by heat. Another reason not to eat raw mj.

    im gonna completely disagree with the idea that eating bud outright doesnt work. I've had a nearly hallucinogenic high when i ate a bud. I simply wrapped it in a powerbar and started muching down on it . No heating. It really wasnt that much either. I've never once experienced a high that intense from smoking or eating cookies.

    i was literally on my ass. people would help me try to walk, and i'd be stumbling everywhere. I couldnt think about anything. I dont recall about an hour or two of that period of being stoned. It was wild.

    I never said eating raw marijuana wouldn't get you high -- it definitely can. But heating it converts more of the THC to its psychoactive form, so you can get higher from the same amount, or just as high with less. I've never been as high from smoking as eating it either, plus it lasts longer. I can take some capsules when I wake up and some more after dinner and stay really high all day long. Not that I do that very often. ;)

    I was just talking to a friend about this and he said he might try it as well just for the hell of it. I just kick myself that I read this now, and not about a month ago, cause I recently quit for approx. 3 months(just started the other day) I have a thread on it.

    Cool idea Brindie!!! I just love smoking it so damn much I doubt I will ever use MJ pills to get high. It just don't seem right to take marijuana via pill(IMHO). Takes a lil of the naturalness about it away(again IMHO).

    And if I really wanna ingest it via other means than my lungs I'll take the delicious Jamaican Hot Sweet Buns. I haven't found a thing to compare. Tryem 4 urself:D

    Ingredients
    2 cups flour
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1/4 fine herb
    1 tsp finely grated ginger
    1 tsp grated lemon peel
    1/4 cup sugar
    4 tps baking powder
    1/2 cup milk
    2 lightly beaten egg yolks
    1/2 cup raisins
    1 cup shredded coconut
    1 egg white, lightly beaten for glaze

    In a big bowl,mix ginger,lemon,sugar and baking powder. Set aside. Chop the herb up fine. Place it in the butter or margarine. Cook slowly while turning it in a double-boiler pot(a pot which fits inside the other seperated by water) for 45mins on a low flame. Strain the weed from the butter and pour the butter into the mixture in the bowl. Then blend in the milk and egg yolks to form dough. Mix in raisins and the coconut. Make 6 pieces of dough into small square buns, each with a flattened to. Place on a cookie sheet with spaces in between. Brush on egg white glaze. Preheat oven to 450degrees Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 6 buns.

    Hmmm, which is more natural, lighting something on fire and inhaling the smoke or heating and eating it? I know which one I think is healthier. :D

    I might try your Jamaican Hot Sweet Buns sometime (although I'm a bit reluctant to eat marijuana in food again because it's tasted bad so many times). Thanks for the recipe. :)
