With liquid rooting solution I always kept the dipping solution separate. This dry rooting powder I can just dip and dip and dip thousand of times without any problems. If you're worried about contamination you could always put the solution in the freezer between uses.

Great thread...Thanks. Good info and extremely interesting cloning technique. A couple of questions, Ugrow2 (or esteemed peanut gallery)...

!. Do you think it's better to take the clones before or after feeding/watering? Or does it not make a difference?

    2. What are you using for the root powder? I have not used powder or gel before and have had great results but I'm going to be taking clones shortly and will be happy to reconsider (although why muck about with success?)

At any rate, this thread is worthy companion reading with TCB's.

    Yeah, I grow too

    So, what are your temps?

I noticed the humidity...are you using any outside heat?

The reason I ask, I have to clone in my 70f mancave.

always have to use a mat to get my clones room steamy

my low setting keeps it about 77 under the dome.

    What can you tell me?

Mayan I been using this stuff from Lowes. Think I paid $6 for it. Been having great success with it and Rockwool.

im using an ezcloner, and have cloned in the past using rock wool cubes and root gel. ime, ive had success with cloning with just water and no root hormone/gel. the ezcloner is just plain unph'd water and no root simulators or anything. i get roots in about 10-14 days (as early as 7-10, but 10-14 is when most are rooted with enough roots to plant in a medium.) not sure if it really makes any diff in rooting/growth if clones are taken after feeding/watering moms. if you are using an ezcloner, no root gel/hormone is needed imo. if you are rooting in rw, i would suggest some root gel.

Thanks bobbooty...I will be cloning in Rapid Rooters. I think those are pretty barren of nutritional value. I have soaked them in homeopathic broths of Liquid Karma in the past - I don't know why, really...just felt like it, I guess (you know...I have to do SOMETHING to intervene) but on the whole it was a highly successful venture. This time, I want to give the mothers away so it's important that the cloning works equally well.

UG2 will not be back.....seems that he decided to take a long vacation and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
