im about to do my first bit of training ever. never did any type before but going to experiment with topping, fimming and lst. my research tells me these are the most popular (maybe supercropping too when the plants get more mature). everybody has their own training preference(s) but i want to find out what works best for me. do you think the seedling below is ready for any of these methods?

its all up to you steve-o,

ive heard training to early can cause a herm.
i would wait until it has sexed because training/topping it can slow it down showing preflowers.
if it is a feminized seed, you could start training whenever.

i had a plant that i top and tied over at 6 inches and it took ages to show preflowers it was from regular seed, i ended up accidently snapping the 2 top brances off it aswell and it still turned out female and had a nice yeild no hermie issues or anything.
pulled about 2-3 oz off it, strain was northern lights special from KC brains.

do whatever you want to it whenever you want unless its a regular seed and its the only 1 you have i wouldnt risk it.:2cents:

    Good morning,

You could begin trainning Her (think positively if sex is unknown) now at this young age. LST - by carefully tying a string around her upper growth and gently (although being gentle isn't really a concern at this age due to main stem being so flexible) pull her over to one side and tape to the container.

As she grows, more lines will be added to hold her down (bondage baby) - an alternative to taping lines down, you could use anything that adds weight without braking the main stem or lateral branches. I use spent Bic lighters that i've dismantled after they've expired. Using a twist-tie through the holes to hook over main stem or said branches to aid holding them in a horizontal direction.

You just don't wanna use lead weights, like fishing weights, but if you do do not allow them to sit on the soil surface or in the water. For obvious reasons.

As far as LST training goes, this method of discipline can be started as soon as theres enough upper plant to fold over. Just be careful not to brake. The other disciplines could be started later in the life of the chosen plant as Stan suggested.

Have a Great day and good luck
