lol the song came to mind so I had to go with it.

ok so I am in good red worm soil territory & I am wonder'n about grow'n my own worms.

I have read on build'n bins and feed'n um etc..

..but what I am wondering is since there are worms how many would I need to take to start a bin and get the #'s grow'n? 10-20..or are dozens or hundreds needed to really get go'n?

Worms are good. Especially dead worms. Hopefully, all growers realize the perfect supplement during the vegetative stage up until a week before alternating nodes . . .

Worm castings, in my belief, are the best natural nitrogen source for a new prosperous plant. It makes a good plant better.

    Simple yet very effective.

here is a reply to an email from a worm seller...

How fast Red Worms will multiply depends on a wide array of different factors. I can cite you an example from my own experience though.
I set up an experiment that involved starting with only 4 juvenile worms. Within 5 months I had more than 120 - and believe me when I say that these worms were badly neglected!
Bottomline - if you treat them well, you can expect to see exponential growth.

If u want to get a lot of leaf worms for your garden heres a good way to get a ton.(if they stay thats up to you) I live in michigan, in the spring time, when the ice is melting, go to a swampy place where the water is still frozen break the ice around the edges ( 2 to8 inchs of water under the ice) under that ice u will find handfull after handfull of leaf worm. not all places have worm But if u hit it right 10 gallons in 5 min. hope someone can use that.

I'll remember that technique the next time I bore through ice or visit Antarctica during my vacation!

Thanks for the advice! It's neat how worms are asexual and can freeze whilst giving earth nitrogen. Fascinating!

Besides the sheer creepiness and writhing demeanor, their celibacy due to asexualism enhances many of the slimy, obsolete taxons to improve aeration of the soil which otherwise stagnant roots surely would result.

Worms: they aren't just for breakfast anymore . . .

    PS...

    The worms crawl in
    The worms crawl out
The worms play pinochle on your snout . . .

    'Cause I am young
    I am strong
    I am invincible...
